This month, indulge in our Blackberry Tarts, bursting with juicy, ripe fruit; Pistachio Choux with a luscious green craquelin topping; and our beloved Three Chocolate Mousse Cake, guaranteed to lift the spirits on even the darkest of days.
Nourishing soups will return to our autumn bakery menu later this month, alongside fresh new savoury delights such as our flavour-rich pumpkin hummus and savoury kale vegan sandwich; and a mouthwatering French Comte, coupled with homemade red pesto, spinach and savoury granola on focaccia. Yes, focaccia is back in our sandwich section!
For the child in all of us, we’re introducing Ace Doughnuts on weekends, baked to fluffy perfection by a local family business. These delicious treats will be delivered fresh to our shops every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday—make sure to grab them before they’re gone! Real Patisserie Classic French Onion Soup - available frequently in our shops all through autumn and winter
Serves 4
Approx time: 45 minutes
Ingredients
4 onions (peeled and chopped)
1 tbsp olive oil
50g of butter
1 tbsp plain flour
25cl of white wine
1 litre of water
8 slices of baguette
100g of Comte cheese (or other hard cheese)
Method
Heat the butter and olive oil in a saucepan and gently sauté the onions until soft.
Sprinkle with flour, then add the wine, water and season.
Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
Grill or toast the bread and put two slices side by side in the bottom of each serving bowl.
Sprinkle with cheese and ladle the soup over the top.
Sprinkle some more grated cheese into each bowl and place under the grill until golden and melted.
Serve immediately
